I came across a question that I didn't know the answer to and decided to look it up and share with the class. Question: Why do many food storage programs recommend eating legumes and rice together? Answer(s):
-When protein is consumed the body breaks it down into amino acids -complete proteins: contains all of the essential amino acids ie: fish, meat, poultry, dairy -incomplete proteins: don't ie: grains, legumes, corn, seeds, nuts and veggies -even if they contain all 9 amino acids, they need to be eaten in equal proportions or else they are still considered to be incomplete -BY COMBINING 2+ incomplete proteins you should be getting the essential amino acids that your body needs to work properly SO, Rice and legumes (incomplete proteins) combined should help to give you the essential amino acids you need and that is why they recommend combining the two. Other: Disclaimer: I know absolutely nothing about fuel, fuel storage, fuel disposal...NOTHING! I am assuming the below information is correct, if anyone knows otherwise you can let me know. Below are some links that I found in trying to find out more about fuel:

Put on my long pants, jacket, gloves and hat and braved the mosquito hoards long enough to collect a small amount of rhubarb...the mosquitos are crazy out there right now!!! Last night I made rhubarb punch for the first time, it turned out nicely! Currently, I have a nice little rhubarb patch in the backyard. If I can get it harvested before I am eaten alive by mosquitos then I would sure like to do something with it. Every year my patch is raided for a July 1st (Canada Day) gathering of family and friends so I haven't been able to do much with it myself...but this year it went untouched...much to my surprise (and disappointment because I do enjoy the rhubarb punch after the parade). So I want to harvest said rhubarb and make something out of it but don't really know where to start. For anyone else who is clueless about rhubarb, here's some information for you: Don't:

Deodorant, one of those things I know I wouldn't last long without! (Trust me, I forgot all of my toiletries when I was in the hospital with my last baby). Here are some DIY deodorant recipes: Does anyone else have any home-made B.O. eliminating recipes they'd like to share? Has anyone tried any of these methods? Opinion? This video has some annoying text pop ups but if you are able to get past them I thought that this guy made a few good points about not only prepping for 'doomsday' but also prepping for if 'doomsday' doesn't come. I am defining 'doomsday' as any form of unexpected event (take a look at my post titled 'define apocalypse' from back in june for more on this). If anyone has any thoughts after viewing the video, let us know. Where do you store your important documents? Are they grab-and-go ready? Have you ever heard of a bug-out-binder? What is it? A bug-out-binder or survival binder is a binder that consists of all of your important documents and emergency information. In an emergency situation it is ready to grab and go, no rummaging through files when you should already be on the road. What do you need to start?
What documents should be included?
Links Survival Reference Binder You won't always be able to turn on your phone and google search the answers. This resource guide is a hard copy how to guide. It should include things that would be handy in a dire situation that will help you to survive. Ie: DIY, Recipes, Instructions, etc. Info to include as a starter: (found at http://thesurvivalmom.com/preparedness-essential2-the-survival-mom-binder/)
