I was reading an article the other day about services that would be good for barter during a dire situation and came across off grid cooking as a service. That hadn't really occurred to me as something that people would be willing to barter for, but in this day and age of instant everything...it makes sense. In a world where you pick up a phone or order online for your food or simply toss the food into the microwave and hit a button or families dine out on a frequent basis, it makes sense to me that people will likely appreciate such a service.
Then I came across a blog post about off grid alternatives to the regular appliances that we use in the kitchen. It points out all of the appliances and tools that we currently use in the kitchen that would be useless without power and provides ideas for alternatives.

I have had to resort to a few of these methods due to power outages. Our BBQ and small camp-stove are what we've used in these situations.
